Major Israeli Newspaper Runs Missionary Ad by David Lev

In Anti-Semitism, Christian/Messianic Disgrace, Israel, Missionaries on 25/04/2012 at 11:43

For the first time, a major Israeli newspaper has accepted an ad from an open missionary group.

The economic daily Calcalist on Wednesday featured a large ad placed by Jews for Jesus offering readers an app that leads them to the organization’s website, where there is a “hard sell” in Hebrew on why Jews should believe in Jesus.

The ad is printed on a background of the flag of Israel, clearly associating the ad, and the organization, with Israel’s Memorial Day for fallen IDF soldiers, being commemorated on Wednesday.

While the ad does not appear to directly proselytize Calcalist readers, it does feature a mnemonic based on the Hebrew word for Jesus, “Yesh > Yeshu > Yeshua,” modeled after the popular mnemonic used by followers of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, “Na Nach Nachma Nachman Me’Uman.”

The word “Yeshua” in Hebrew means “salvation,” and is used by Christian missionaries to justify their position that Jesus was the promised Jewish Messiah. Jews, of course, reject this position, using as proof the fact that the prophecies in the Hebrew Bible associated with the Messiah, such as the arrival of an era of world peace, have not been fulfilled.

Early Christians changed the commandments, a further halakhic proof of a falseprophet.

Direct proselytization with the promise of a material benefit is against the law in Israel. However, there is no law against urging people to adopt a new belief or religion based on spiritual or philosophical principles.

The ad includes a QR code that readers can scan with their smartphones that installs an app produced by the group. The app directs users to the group’s web site, where “issues of the day,” including politics and Jewish history, are discussed from a Christologic viewpoint. Among the claims made on the web site is that the Jews are to blame for the persecution they have experience over the generations, and especially for the Holocaust, because of their rejection of Jesus.

Anti-missionary groups slammed Calcalist for running the ad, with one activist saying they planned to sue Calcalist for printing an ad that was clearly misleading. “The ad implies that it is in memory of fallen IDF soldiers, but its real purpose is something else entirely. They should be ashamed of themselves.”

Calcalist is a part of the Yediot Achronot publishing group, which is headed by Arnon Mozes

Border Police Prepare for Flytilla

Hundreds of French anti-Israel activists are planning to stage a “flytilla” at Ben Gurion airport this weekend said they still plan to travel despite Israeli officials saying they will be denied entry.

“We are obliged to transit through Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion) to get to the West Bank. This is not a choice,” organizer Olivia Zemor said on Wednesday.

Zemor also said that buses have been already been reserved to ferry the activists to Bethlehem where they plan to participate in anti-Israel demonstrations.

Minister or Public Security Yitzhak Aharonovitch said Tuesday the “provocateurs will be dealt with in a determined and quick way.”

The Obama administration is blaming Israel for the recent rise in global crude oil prices, says its “posturing” on Iran brought the rise. By Elad Benari

The Obama administration is blaming Israel for the recent rise in global crude oil prices, according to a Sunday report in The World Tribune. The rise in fuel prices is deemed as harming the U.S. economy and has also hurt Obama in the polls as he seeks re-election in November.

The report cited a leading U.S. analyst, Robert Satloff, who returned from talks with Israeli officials.

Satloff, executive director of theWashington Institute for Near East Policy, said, according to The World Tribune, that the Israeli leadership sawWashington as attributing the higher gas prices to “Israel’s posturing” on Iran.

“They think the Iranians should be held responsible for the higher gasoline prices,” Satloff was quoted as having said.

He added that the officials told him the Obama administration was staging a campaign to undermine Israel.

Catherine Ashton Adds Insult To Injury With Anti-Semitic Ignorance

Maybe she was dropped on her head as a child. Perhaps she was allowed to lick lead-based paint. Whatever the excuse,

EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton

EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton

the European Union’s Foreign Policy Chief, Catherine Ashton idiotically compared the Toulouse shootings on Monday to children dying in Gaza. She said, “When we think about what happened today in Toulouse, we also remember what happened in Norway last year, and what is happening now in Syria and Gaza, and other areas of the world…We see before our eyes all the children who lost their lives.”

Of course she quickly tried to back pedal after Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman demanded a retraction and Opposition leader Tzipi Livni called the remarks “outrageous.” Her office called the reports “grossly distorted” and that, “The High Representative referred to tragedies taking the lives of children around the world and drew no parallel whatsoever between the circumstances of the Toulouse attack and the situation in Gaza.” No parallel except that she made the comparison during a meeting with Palestinian Authority Arab youth in Brussels. Context, context, context.

Rockets reached past Ashdod to Gedera, about 20 miles south of Tel Aviv. Israel has passed a stern warning to the Palestinian Jihad Islami shooting missiles from Gaza for the third day to expect punishment on a different scale from the current surgical air strikes if they fire Fajr surface missiles against the Tel Aviv area, DEBKAfile reports. The warning was relayed Sunday, March 11, through Egyptian Intelligence Chief Gen. Murad Muwafi. He and Washington hope to curb the Gaza violence before Jihad is given escalation orders by its masters in Tehran and Damascus.
